Description

"Tree to 20 m high, commonly with a weeping habit." (WorldWideWattle ver. 2)

Notes

"Grows in yellow or brown gravelly, sandy or clayey soils in eucalypt woodland." (WorldWideWattle ver. 2) Inflorescences are globular. Fruit is often seen ripening later in the season. Ironwood has been used for fencing timber.

Seed collections from Acacia excelsa often involve dealing with tall trees however lower regrowth can also be a good source of seed. Pods may tightly retain seed and usually require threshing.
